Two practices for reclaiming your summer
You are so powerful and amazing, probably more than you allow yourself to realize and feel!
And the systems of work are scared of your innate creativity and embodiment.
Trust me on this. I have the honor of hearing and holding your beautifully inspiring and deeply heartbreaking stories. Every single one of these folks - YOU - is beyond badass AF and amazingly multitalented. And every single one shares stories of institutional betrayal, exploitation, and manipulation for others’ gain. It’s the bad behavior inherent in the systems of patriarchy, late-stage capitalism, and colonialism.
Systems of work keep you pointlessly busy, urgently distracted, and unsure. That’s how institutions keep you in a one-sided relationship of overing and giving. They fear you pausing long enough to realize how bright you can shine without them, so they don’t let you shine within them either!
That was our Grove Community’s takeaway at the end of this month’s myths of institutional neutrality and benevolence.
I know. It’s a heavy punch. And. Take your power back. All OF IT. I’m going to offer one small nudge step towards it, because I know that can feel overwhelming and disorienting.
One small boundary to practice reclaiming your summer:
If you’ve been reading these emails on your work account, change it to your personal email. All you have to do is hit reply and let me know what you want your email changed to. Easy! (If you’re already using your personal email, take work email off your phone. I already hear your resistance, but your nervous system will thank me after a couple of weeks.)
Part of reclaiming your power is creating space that belongs to you and is separate from them. I’m not trying to create an us-vs-them thing; integration is possible. And first, though, you need healthy space. This also applies if you love your work. It’s not just for those in these heartbreaking relationships.
So much noise comes from inside systems that constantly demand your attention, productivity, and emotional labor. Sometimes the first step is simply creating a buffered, safe place to reflect outside of those systems.
One BOLDER practice to reclaiming your summer:
As we move towards summer, the changing weather patterns offer a different rhythm. Nature truly is such a wonderful teacher and mirror. And right now, she’s offering a pause and a chance to listen beneath the urgency.
If you’ve been quietly asking yourself: Should I stay? Or should I go?
Here’s my favorite question to also consider: What would transformation look like if I stopped overriding myself, trying to fit into their small cardboard box?
This may be the season to intentionally explore those questions. I’m opening a limited number of consultation calls this summer for people who want support navigating career crossroads with more clarity, embodiment, and self-trust.
If you feel you’re at that point where something has to shift and you can’t go back into the fall feeling like you are now, let’s chat. You do not need to have the answer before you begin.
